A family can arrive from Zurich together and still want very different things from Davos. Instead of negotiating every hour as a group, agree on a few shared anchors after settling in. Clear expectations about meals, optional outings and independent time help the holiday feel more relaxed for everyone.

Hear the quiet preferences first

Ask each family member to choose something they would enjoy during the stay, including anyone who is less enthusiastic about the main sport. Write the ideas down without immediately turning them into reservations. Distinguish a strong preference from a casual suggestion. Children can help choose between concrete possibilities, while adults can explain practical limits. This conversation often reveals that a pleasant meal or a familiar activity matters as much as visiting another mountain area.

Choose shared moments with a purpose

Pick a few experiences the group genuinely wants to share, rather than requiring everyone to join every outing. A meal, a cultural visit or a suitable family activity can provide an anchor. The destination publishes family-restaurant information, including establishments with children’s menus and facilities, but confirm your requirements with the chosen venue. Keep the shared moments visible on the family plan so independent activities can be arranged around them without repeated negotiation.

Treat separate plans as complete plans

When part of the family chooses a different activity, confirm who is responsible for children and how the groups will reconnect. Give each adult the relevant accommodation information and any necessary booking details. Avoid leaving one person as the permanent organiser of everyone else’s free time. If an outing has participation requirements, check them with the provider. The family-friendly label on an activity does not replace understanding what the particular experience involves.

Review the balance as you go

At a natural pause in the stay, ask what has worked well and whether anyone wants more quiet time, more shared activity or another attempt at a favourite experience. Use the current guest programme for additional ideas, checking eligibility and booking conditions individually. Adjust plans without treating an earlier choice as a promise that cannot change. A successful family week gives people stories to share while allowing them to experience Davos in their own ways.

Questions about this journey

Should every family activity be booked together?

Book together when participation and interests align; separate outings can also be part of a well-planned family holiday.

How do we check a restaurant suits our children?

Ask the chosen venue about the menu, seating and specific facilities your family needs.

What is a useful shared anchor?

Choose something everyone values, such as a meal or an agreed outing, rather than an obligation added only to keep the group together.
