Travelling to Davos with twins or two young children often involves equipment that looks very different when folded. A double buggy should be described in the form in which it will reach the vehicle, rather than by its product name or the number of children it carries.

Rehearse the fold at home

Fold the buggy exactly as you intend to transport it. Check whether both seats remain attached, whether a carrycot separates, and whether the wheels are removed. Measure the resulting pieces and record how many there are. A manufacturer’s compact-fold photograph may show a configuration you will not use while travelling. Your own short written description is more helpful than assuming every double buggy occupies a similar space.

Account for the supporting pieces

The frame is only part of the packing picture. Include rain covers, footmuffs, an organiser hanging from the handle, and any separate travel bag if they will remain outside the suitcases. Put small removable fittings together so they do not become loose items during unloading. Explain which pieces are rigid and which can be packed inside another bag. That gives the booking team a clearer view of the entire family load.

Coordinate airport and road arrangements

If flying, use your airline’s instructions to establish how the buggy is handled and where it is returned. Zurich Airport’s family information is a useful starting point for airport preparation. Do not make the road pickup depend on an assumed buggy-return location. Tell the transfer team what equipment you expect to collect and send an update if the airline changes the arrangement. Confirm vehicle suitability before treating the booking as settled.

Give each adult a practical role

Where two adults are travelling, one can keep the children together while the other manages the folded equipment and its loose accessories. If travelling alone, explain the handling situation when enquiring and ask what assistance can be arranged. Specify child seats separately from the buggy; they serve different purposes in the booking. Keep a photograph of the packed equipment for reference, then use the same piece count when unloading at your Davos address.

Questions about this journey

Is the buggy’s brand name enough?

No. Provide the actual folded dimensions and the number of separate pieces that will travel.

Does bringing a buggy replace a child-seat request?

No. Describe the buggy as luggage and specify the required child-seat arrangement separately.

Should I remove accessories before collection?

Gather detachable accessories into a bag where practical and tell the booking team about any pieces that remain separate.
